I'm often asked about the process in designing.

"Does the computer just generate a new floor plan?"

"How do you come up with options?"

In reality, once existing conditions are put into a CAD drawing, I put down the mouse and pick up the paper and pens. To me, the best way to come up with design ideas has always been on paper.

 

So even though we've moved on to the days of realistic renderings and computer fly through models, each project begins with a hand sketch.
